Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Appointa (the "Company," "we," "us," or "our") — a sole proprietorship (Einzelunternehmen) based in Munich, Germany; full provider identification is set out in the Imprint and available on request — uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website, use our platform, or interact with our Services (collectively, the "Services"). It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them, in accordance with § 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG), the EU ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC), and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

This policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy, which provides more details about how we collect, use, and share your personal information.

1. What are Cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.

  • First-party cookies: These are cookies set by Appointa directly. They are primarily used for essential site functionality and to remember your preferences.
  • Third-party cookies: These are cookies set by parties other than Appointa (e.g., analytics providers, payment processors). They enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website.

2. Other Tracking Technologies

In addition to cookies, we may use other similar technologies:

  • Web Beacons (Pixel Tags): Tiny graphics with a unique identifier that allow us to recognize when someone has visited our Services or opened an email we sent them. This helps us measure the effectiveness of our communications and improve our Services.
  • Local Storage: We may use browser local storage (like HTML5) to store content information and preferences.
  • Third-Party Sign-In: If you sign in with Google or Apple, you are redirected to accounts.google.com or appleid.apple.com. Those providers set their own cookies on their own domains, governed by their privacy policies rather than this one.

3. Why Do We Use Cookies?

We use cookies for several reasons:

  1. Strictly Necessary: Essential for the Services to function, enabling core features like security, network management, and accessibility.
  2. Functionality: To remember choices you make (like language or region) and provide enhanced, more personal features.
  3. Performance & Analytics: To understand how visitors interact with our Services by collecting and reporting information anonymously.
  4. Security: To help identify and prevent security risks.

5. Your Choices and Control

Under the GDPR, § 25 TDDDG, and the ePrivacy Directive, we require your explicit consent for all cookies that are not "strictly necessary."

5.1. Cookie Consent Banner

When you first visit our website, a cookie consent banner will appear. You can choose to:

  • Accept All: Consenting to the use of all cookies.
  • Reject All (Non-Essential): Only strictly necessary cookies will be used.

5.2. Browser Controls

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:

  • Delete all cookies from your browser
  • Block all cookies
  • Allow all cookies
  • Block third-party cookies
  • Clear all cookies when you close the browser
  • Open a 'private browsing' / 'incognito' session

To find out more about how to manage and delete cookies, visit aboutcookies.org or allaboutcookies.org.

5.3. Opt-out of Analytics

You can opt-out of specific analytics providers directly:

  • PostHog: You can manage your preferences through our cookie consent banner.

6. International Data Transfers

Some cookie providers are located outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or may transfer data outside the EEA, for example to the United States. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards in accordance with the GDPR, in particular adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. For more information, see our Privacy Policy.

7. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page with a new "Last Updated" date.

8. Contact Us
